As a result of our work with Kelly, we have managed to freshen and modernise our offering. We have noticed a considerable upturn in conversion rate with 50% of visiting couples now booking the Fort (at the end of 2017 this was more like 20%).

This resulted in achieving our best sales month in the history of Polhawn Fort in January 2018. As a result of this increase in bookings we received deposits of £30,000 above our sales targets which negated any reservations we had about the cost of instructing Kelly.

Polhawn Fort is a privately-owned unique wedding setting perched high on a remote Cornish cliff-top.

Made up of extensive lawns, secluded beach, characterful Fort interiors as well as guest accommodation, it is an established and successful wedding destination of 20 years, operating on a multi-night exclusive-use model.

Sarah Turpitt, General Manager, had recently joined the Fort and along with the Fort’s owners, felt the time was right to scrutinise their established wedding offering, to refresh and refine it to achieve further business growth.

Across 2 consecutive days I delivered our ‘Refine & Shine’ consulting service alongside a Bespoke Private Training Day for their entire team.
December 2017

Day One

The consulting service involved a full day spent with the venue team understanding their ethos & character, their roles and the existing customer process from enquiry to show round, follow up sales, co-ordination and management. I studied all components of the potential customer experience. This involved a detailed review of all “virtual” materials (website, brochure, social media presence) which was pre-researched, prepared, presented and explained at the in-person session.

This was followed by a further written report detailing recommendations from the findings on the day including suggested adjustments to packaging, pricing, presentation, menu offerings, further marketing avenues, supplier partner connections and much more. Priorities for immediate action were recommended for implementation.
Day Two
Our SHINE Wedding Market Training formed the basis of this one-day wedding team training, personalised to Polhawn Fort’s specific challenges as well as to its unique features.

Sarah explains the impact it made:

Kelly spent a day training our entire customer facing team alongside the owners. This time was invaluable as we managed to overcome many issues that had previously belonged in the "too hard" basket as we had failed to fully recognise their importance in the sales outcomes. Another hugely valuable outcome of this day was to appreciate each team members’ value to the Fort and gain better understanding of the extensive nature of their roles within the team. Having every member present has proved essential as we commence rolling out the action plan developed after Kelly's workshop as the team recognise the need to change to continue being successful.

Sarah led the team forward in making immediate changes to some of their processes, specifically their show round round process and after just one month the results were clear to see:

Whilst our service has come to the end for now, the team are working hard to implement many more updates and changes which will serve their couples and their business well over the months and years to come. I will be following their progress and successes keenly.
